At ABC Transitions, we are committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information and have developed policies and procedures in compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, 2004 (PIPEDA) and the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA).
We are regulated by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) who monitor and enforce strict guidelines about the protection of your information.
The information you share with us is confidential and will not be communicated, directly or indirectly, to a third party without your informed and written consent. There are both ethical and legal exceptions to this policy, which includes a situation where your clinical file is subpoenaed and/or where you:
- Threaten serious physical harm to either yourself or someone else.
- Report physical or sexual child abuse (even if the victim is now an adult) if there is reason to believe that the abuser is still in a position to abuse other children.
- Report past or present serious misconduct of a regulated health professional.
