Cindy Brcko

MSW, RSW

Cindy graduated from the University of Toronto, where she obtained a Master of Social Work degree in 1998. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings in the not-for-profit, private and public sectors. Cindy has been practicing as a clinical social worker within a geriatric organization since 2000. She has provided community-based counselling and has worked in both in-patient and out-patient programs including Palliative Care, Complex Continuing Care and a Geriatric Day Hospital.

Cindy is passionate about her work and prides herself at being a strong advocate who provides only the highest quality of care to her elderly clients and their caregivers. She has extensive experience in providing counselling to individuals, couples and families around life transitions, system navigation, caregiver stress, coping with physical and cognitive changes, understanding and accepting chronic, progressive and terminal diagnoses. Cindy has facilitated caregiver support groups and has been involved with training Family Practice Residents and volunteers.

Cindy’s practice is client-centred and goal oriented. Her collaborative approach to counselling combines several therapeutic modalities including; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Mindfulness Based Therapy.
