Arlene Consky

Arlene is a Registered Social Worker with 25 years of community and hospital-based experience working with individuals, families and groups. She has worked in various programs including Long Term Care, a Memory Clinic and Geriatric Psychiatry. Arlene has an empathetic and compassionate approach to help people achieve their personal goals. Her primary focus is with seniors and their families facing life transitions related to the aging process, including loss, chronic illness, mood disorders and the challenges of caregiving.

Arlene received her Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1989. She has presented locally, nationally and internationally at professional conferences.

Arlene practices an integrative approach of Brief Focused Counselling skills using leading frameworks from Strengths Based, Narrative, Solution and Emotional Focused Therapies. Her approach is collaborative, time-sensitive and client-centred as she works with clients to find meaning and hope in their current situation. Arlene empowers clients to create a story that more accurately reflects their desired life, existing strengths and ability to navigate personal challenges. She also uses practical techniques such as mindfulness meditation, laughter yoga, and breathing exercises to help clients cope with emotional challenges.
